What to do with boxed flowers for a funeral? These boxed flowers where ordered from Proflowers.com. These pictures were submitted to us from a recent funeral here in Wagner, South Dakota. I suspect that the customer who ordered these flowers for the funeral were trying to do the right thing, but did not understand that the flowers would arrive in a box, with a vase and had to be assembled? I haven’t found a grieving family that has yet to want to open a box of flowers, undo the packing straps, add water to a vase (if your lucky enough to have one in the box), add the flower food, re-cut the stems and arrange the flowers. To add insult to injury, look at the lack of blossoms on those stems.
The funeral director’s wife actually brought the box of flowers out after the service was over and stated, ”I just don’t understand why people order these items for funerals.” I personally think that many consumers beleive that they will receive beautiful, fresh hand arranged flowers. If you visit the Proflowers.com web site and browse their products you will see many designs on the site that are arranged in vases, but these flowers come in a box as shown in these pictures.
What can be done to prevent this from happening? Help us educate everyone in the use of a “real” florist. Rest assured flowers ordered through us are always arranged by a real florist, never in a box. Need help in finding a real florist outside of our area? Give us a call or visit the florist directory on our site and select one of our recommended real florists. Together we can end flowers in a box.
